Chlorella vulgaris

Chlorella vulgaris is one of the most common cultivated algae in the world, used extensively in a diverse array of applications. Chlorella vulgaris is protein-rich, containing all the essential amino acids, high in chlorophylls, and it has a lipid profile with 60% of polyunsaturated fatty acids. This microalga is also rich in vitamins and minerals such as vitamin B12, iron, potassium, phosphorus and calcium.

Allmicroalgae produces autotrophic organic Chlorella vulgaris (Organic Chlorella) and heterotrophic Chlorella vulgaris (Smooth Chlorella, Honey Chlorella and White Chlorella).

Organic Chlorella vulgaris

Our organic Chlorella vulgaris is grown in a sustainable autotrophic manner, using sunlight and CO2 and producing oxygen. Thanks to the closed production process, a standardized, repeatable and contaminant-free product can be provided thoughout the year.

Smooth Chlorella vulgaris

Our light-green smooth Chlorella is produced in the dark, inside a fermenter vessel. This allows for the reduction of its chlorophyl content, thus leading to a lighter color and milder taste. Heterotrophic cultivation is more efficient and enables a tight control of this microalga, without compromising its nutritional profile, while also improving its organoletic features.

Honey Chlorella vulgaris

Yellow Chlorella vulgaris was obtained through the isolation of lighter strains, under stress conditions. This GMO-free manipulation is commonly used as a way to speed naturally-occurring selection. The final product is a stable strain with similar productivity but lower chlorophyl content, which translates to a milder taste and odor.

White Chlorella vulgaris

Similarly to Honey Chlorella, white Chlorella vulgaris was obtained through selection of lighter strains, under stress conditions. It is a vegan/vegetarian alternative ingredient with mild taste and odor. Like organic Chlorella, it is rich in protein, fiber, and polyunsaturated fatty acids.

Spirulina

Arthrospira platensis, or Spirulina, has been consumed for centuries, and to this day it is still considered as a Super Food due to its unique and balanced nutritional profile. We are keen on producing Spirulina in an artisanal way, providing it as powder or paste, with a mild flavor and proven bioactivity. It is rich in protein with all essential amino acids, while also rich in phycocyanin, iron, vitamin B12, and omega-3 fatty acids.

Tetraselmis chui

Tetraselmis sp. is a marine alga produced in closed tubular photobioreactors.
Tetraselmis chui has
45% of protein, high levels of chlorophylls and a lipid profile rich in omega-3 (25% ALA and 8% EPA). This microalga is suitable for feed and food formulations since it recently became Novel Food approved by the EU.
Tetraselmis striata is rich in fibers (25%), in carotenoids (neoxanthin, lutein and violaxanthin) and in lipids (such as omega-3).

Nannochloropsis sp.

Nannochloropsis sp. is a marine algae produced in closed tubular photobioreactors. Nannochloropsis sp. has a high omega-3 (with 50% EPA) content and with 4% pigments (chlorophylls and carotenoids). The product is released without salt content (<0,4%), additives or preservatives.
Nannochloropsis oceanica has a rich lipid profile with 40% polyunsaturated fatty acids, with 35% omega 3 (EPA) and 10% omega-6. This alga, with 3% chlorophylls, has a size of grains <40µg.
Nannochloropsis gaditana also has an interesting lipid profile, similar to that of N. oceanica, making it a good ingredient of animal feed, most commonly fish feed.

Scenedesmus sp.

Scenedesmus obliquus has a rich nutritional profile with high levels of protein (55%), lipids, trace minerals, vitamins and pigments such as chlorophyll, lutein and carotenoids.
Scenedesmus rubescens also has a vast content of pigments (chlorophyll, lutein, carotenoids), and a rich and
complete composition of macro and micronutrients.

Phaeodactylum tricornutum

This diatom is composed of high level of omega-3 (40% of EPA), omega-6 (17%) and omega-9 (6%) on the total lipid content (10-15% DW). This microalgae has fucoxantin, a carotenoid of great potential value in the prevention or management of obesity and other chronic diseases.

Chlorococcum amblystomatis

Chlorococcum amblystomatis is a green microalga, which can be grown auto-, hetero- or mixotrophically. We isolated this strain here in Pataias and were able to grow it industrially. It has a high protein content (>48% Dry Weight) and interesting poly-unsaturated fatty acids and cartotenoid content, making it a good candidate food and feed applications; its chlorophyll and lutein make it a natural food colorant, which can also be used by the nutraceutical and pharmaceutical industries.
